§ On the practice

What numerology is, and isn't.

Numerology is a symbolic language. It takes two of the most concrete facts of your life — the name you were given and the day you arrived — and reads them as a set of resonances. It is old, and it is speculative, and it is not science.

It is, however, an excellent mirror. When a symbolic system is thoughtful enough to describe you clearly, it becomes a way of thinking about yourself you didn't have access to before. That's the value on offer here.

How Numbered by Veil calculates your chart

Numbered by Veil uses Pythagorean numerology, the most common Western system. Letters are mapped to numbers 1–9, then reduced together according to standard practice:

  • · Life Path is drawn from your date of birth (month + day + year, reduced).
  • · Expression comes from all the letters of your full birth name.
  • · Soul Urge reads only the vowels of your name.
  • · Personality reads only the consonants.
  • · Personal Year combines your birth month + day with the current calendar year.
  • · Pinnacles & Challenges are drawn from the same birth date, staged across life chapters.
  • · Master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are preserved rather than reduced.

How to read your report

Every reading has sections that will land instantly, and sections that won't land for years. Take what feels true right now. Notice — without arguing — what feels close to something you don't want to admit. Leave the rest gently.

Numerology is at its best when it opens a conversation with yourself, not when it hands you a verdict.

What Numbered by Veil will not do

  • · Tell you what will happen.
  • · Tell you who to love, hire, or trust.
  • · Use fear-based language, ever.
  • · Store your data — nothing you enter leaves your browser.

A note on Y

Y is treated as a vowel only when it has no vowel neighbor. This keeps the Soul Urge / Personality split consistent across every name.
